York Village apparatus: Squad 2, Engine 4, Truck 8, and Brush 10 stood-by as a convoy went through town on Route 1 carrying World Trade Center steel from 9-11-01. The steel was on the back of a US military flat bed. The contingent was  escorted by a Freeport, Maine Fire Department  Chief officer, Engine Company, and an ambulance. The other agencies involved were numerous police departments, sheriff’s departments and a large group from the “Freedom Riders Motorcycle Group” a group of motorcyclists and US military veterans who stand-by  to thwart efforts to protest at veterans funerals, and support other patriotic causes.

York Village Fire Department was honored to support and participate in this event. We support our troops unconditionally. We will never forget the firefighters, police officers, and civilians whom were murdered on 9-11-01
