At approximately 1630 hours York Village Fire and York Beach Fire were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at the York Harbor Inn, 480 York St. C-1 arrived and reported smoke in the building inside the “Cellar Pub” at the York Harbor Inn and requested that the first alarm “working fire” be filled out. Squad 2, Engine 6, Truck 8, and Engine 4 all responded, Engine 6 tagged a hydrant and laid into Squad 2 while Truck 8 set the stick into the roof. Interior companies reported smoke on multiple levels of the Harbor Inn with the fire alarm sounding. York Beach responded with Engine 1 and Ladder 1. Engine 1 grabbed a hydrant at York St. and Starbird Ln and laid into the scene. Ladder 1 also raised their stick. Crews found a small fire on an exterior wall with minor extension to the wall cavity. 2 lines were stretched, the fire was under control in approximately 20 minutes but smoke had filled almost the entire building so ventilation operations took more than an hour. The business was able to reopen for happy hour and dinner. In all 21 firefighters from York Village responded to the fire. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. is under investigation by Deputy Chief Apgar.
