York Village Companies responded to a fire alarm at the Highland Farm on Route 91 approximately 1600hours Monday, while responding crews noticed the ominous skies forming to the west of town. The fire alarm at the Highland Farm was a faulty smoke detector and companies went in service quickly as the dark clouds were bearing down on the Town of York. Members went into the station in advance of the impending storm as is a York Village Fire custom for members to converge on the station “just in case” The storm
was fast moving with lots of thunder and lightning, but only one run, another fire alarm at the York Street Baptist Church, which after investigation was attributed to a nearby lighting strike which damaged a tree further down on Organug Road and knocked out power to the neighborhood. All companies were in-service within 20 minutes.
