York Village Fire adheres to a strict  chauffeur training program. Thursday afternoon one of our newest chauffeurs was hard at work testing out to complete the objectives for Engine 4 our 2001 Pierce, the second of our engines that new drivers have to master before going on to the next piece of apparatus. The first evolution was drafting from a static source, where 30′ of suction hose and a barrell strainer was utilized to reach the pond.  The second evolution included reverse and forward lays into the Truck Co. to simulate defensive operations,  One scenario involved feeding the aerial device directly from Engine 4’s pump. The second scenario the LDH feeder was supplied into Truck 8’s 1750 GPM fire pump.  Peak flows from this hydrant during the evolutions were in excess of 2000 GPM.
