Spring has FINALLY sprung!!! This means that outdoor fire training is in full swing. York Village Fire has been grooming a few new fire apparatus chauffeurs to bolster our roster of qualified volunteers to chauffeur the rigs. Members are required to complete numerous evolutions and demonstrate competency in driving and pumping. Tonight we drilled on large stream appliances. That is an appliance that flows more than 500 gallons per minute. In the photos we were flowing closer to 600 gallons a minute from a hydrant on Hannaford Drive. In the next evolutions we challenged the chauffeur in training to pump 1000 gallons per minute into “the gun”
The fire hydrants in York are expertly maintained by the York Water District and supply more than enough water for firefighting.
