At just before 7:00 pm, York Village Fire was dispatched to Surf Point Rd. for a report of a vehicle fire. Shortly after Squad 2 signed on responding, York Dispatch received a 2nd call reporting the a large plume of black smoke can be seen from Kittery. More reports came in that the fire had extended to a garage. Squad 2 arrived on scene with heavy fire showing and extension into a three-car attached garage. Captain John Hunt requested a 1st Alarm Working Fire for the Non-Hydrant District. This brings in more tankers from neighboring departments, as well as station coverage. The fire was quickly knocked down and extension was minimal.
