The York Village SMART truck was dispatched to the City of Portsmouth for an early morning building fire. The fire was in a garden style apartment building approximately 200×50 3 story wood frame. The SMART truck is on the 3rd alarm assignment on Portsmouth’s run card. The fire eventually went to a 4th alarm with many
special calls. SMART truck crew included FF Mike Brown, and support members “Sonny” Dinsmore and Ruth “SARGE” Drake-Benedict. The SMART truck crew was immediately put to work setting up their “rehab-sector” with both “misters” bottled water, snacks, breakfast items and coffee. The crew also filled approximately 20 SCBA bottles from the on-board compressor. SMART crew was assisted on scene by Captain Paul Balentine, and FF’s Nick Hilton, and Adam Cavanaugh who were already .on scene “buffing” the fire.
