The Thursday night before Field day is a big day at the YFD. Some members take the day off from work to be at the firehouse all day to begin getting the fire apparatus ready for Saturday’s parade. All fire apparatus get washed, waxed, and detailed, inside and out. In the evening hours after all the work is done, the department buys pizza to feed the members, some of whom have put in a 12+ hour day. The apparatus always looks tip top when they are done!!
