Thursday night before firemen’s field day is our traditional night for washing, waxing, and detailing the fleet. This year was no different. Some members arrived early in the day to begin the day’s chores, other members arrive after they get out of work for the day. Everybody pitches in in some way. Some members bring their wives and children to assist, after the work is complete the YVFD corporation buys pizza for all who worked. Chief Balentine holds a pep rally to brief the troops on any important news and a reminder of the weekend’s timeline, though it usually isn’t necessary. After all the members of York Village Fire work together as a well oiled machine and have done this literally a hundred times!!
