At around 0900 York Beach Fire was dispatched to 20 Nubble Road for a report of a chimney fire. Companies arrived on scene and were confronted with a chimney fire in a closed down bed and breakfast. Car 3 (Asst. Chief Jeff Welch) arrived on scene and assumed command. Owing to lack of available personnel due to day time hours Car 3 requested Truck 8 and Manpower from York Village Fire. York Village responded with 6 personnel while 3 firefighters remained in quarters to cover the Village District. Companies worked to extinguish the stubborn chimney fire and due to the construction of the insert and extent of the fire, members were required to partially dismantle the fireplace/woodstove insert to fully extinguish the fire. No extension into the structure was found. Crews were available around 12 noon.
