York Village Fire Chief Chris Balentine was lured to a Firefighter I and II graduation Thursday night to recieve a “Lifetime Achievement Award” presented by the York County Fire Chief’s association. Chief Balentine was taken completely by suprise by the award that was decided on by his peers. Chief Balentine’s fire service career spans nearly four decades. He became a firefighter with the York Village Fire department in 1972 and rose through the ranks to become fire chief in April 1985. Much has changed at the York Village Fire department since 1985, too many items to list. Chief Balentine is still progressive and listens to his officers and firefighters. He is the longest serving fire chief in the York Village Fire department’s 94 year history!
