For our regular Thursday night training all three Lieutenants were charged with putting on a “rope rescue awareness class” for the rest of the York Village Firefighters and officers. This class was to show the other members the various pieces of rope rescue equipment that are carried on Squad 2 and also to familiarize the rest of the troops as to what might be expected of them for supporting roles in the event of such an incident. Lieutenants Mike Bruno (W-1) Dave Butler (W-2) and Ryan O’Blenis (W-3) demonstrated several scenarios including lifting a patient using Truck 8’s aerial as a high point using a 4:1 rigging system to raise a stokes basket. In the following photos Lt. Butler is the EMT/rescuer while FF Mike Moore dangles precariously in the litter, praying to god or whomever else that his fellow firefighters and officers are up on their knots.
