This morning York Village Fire was requested to respond mutual aid to South Berwick for a disaster drill. The scenario was that an oil truck had collided with a propane truck. The propane truck was on its side and leaking propane with the driver trapped inside. The oil truck was leaking into the Salmon Falls River. Quick thinking on the part of the South Berwick Fire Department was required to prevent a disaster from becoming worse. In addition to South Berwick Fire, on scene companies included: York Village Fire, Berwick Fire , York County EMA, P. Gagnon Propane, Eastern Propane, Propane Gas association of New England, National Wrecker, South Berwick PD, and York Ambulance. The drill was a success and a lot was learned. The teamwork between the fire departments couldn’t have been better. We have always worked really well together.
