York Village and York Beach Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 31 Long Sands Rd. at 1550 hours. C1 arrived on scene and had light smoke showing from the rear of the building. Crews had smoke in the basement and an odor of something burning. 1 1 3/4″ line was stretched and Engine 1 from York Beach FD stood by at the hydrant. The issue was traced to a problem with the oil burner, which suffered a failure and a small fire within the unit. There was no extension outside the unit. Crews cleared within 30 minutes. The homeowner took this fun shot of the crew after the incident was under control.
