Burleigh Bridges of the Wells Fire Department ret. passed away this morning. We last crossed paths at the …York Beach Fire Department’s field day at the end of June. He was telling us that he was looking forward to our field day in August and that it was his 51st year running. We know he wouldn’t have missed it because he was a fixture there. Firemen’s muster events will never be the same without him. Burleigh very rarely missed a field day, he never cared about taking home trophies. He was there for the love of the game.
