Shortly before 0200 hours York Beach Fire was dispatched to the area of Long Sands Road/Long Beach Ave/Bayview Ave/Lobster Cove for a motor vehicle accident. with further information placing the call near the Lobster Cove Restaurant York Village Fire was dispatched as it is our fire district. Engine 1 (YB) Squad 2 (YV) C-1 and 212 (YB Asst. Chief Welch) responded, while enroute information was updated that it was an MVA rollover, vehicle in the water with occupant still in the vehicle. York Village and York Beach companies were on scene nearly simultaneously and reported an upside down vehicle in the swamp with victim still in the car. C1 requested members to don water rescue suits. The vehicle was in a swamp which had partially frozen over which was enough ice to keep the vehicle from sinking. Crews were able to gain access to the victim and extricate without incident. Victim was transferred to a stokes basket and carried up the steep hill infront of the Lobster Cove Restaurant and into waiting York Ambulance 1. Crews stood by while Jack’s Towing removed the vehicle from the swamp. The patient’s condition is unkown.
