1520 hrs. York Village and York Beach Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at Mr. Mike’s convenience store on Route 1. While enroute, companies were advised that the store personnel were reporting a fire in the bathroom. C-1 and Squad 2 arrived at simultaneously and C-1 reported that he had nothing showing. Shortly thereafter, he called York Dispatch and reported that it was a “Working Fire” (1st alarm) for run card “O-1” the hydrant district run card. Engine 1 from York Beach arrived second immediately followed by Engine 4 and Truck 8. The interior crew led by Lt. Hilton consisted of FF Zach Apgar on the pipe and FF William Trapnell as back-up/Forcible Entry. The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes and contained to the bathroom with no extension. The companies were held for 30 minutes for ventilation.
While companies were operating at this scene York Village was dispatched to Norwood Farms Rd. for smoke in the building, caller reporting a problem with the fireplace. Engine 4 had just been released and responded along with the station coverage company Kittery FD Engine 5. Companies were tied up there for 20 minutes with ventilation operations.
A third call for York Village Fire was dispatched while this call was on-going. This time a medical call was toned for the Sentry Hill complex. York Ambulance 2 responded and Truck 8 was the closest company so they took in the call as well.
