Early this morning the Kittery Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on Gerrish Island Ln for a structure fire. Upon arrival, Kittery Fire Chief transmitted a 2nd Alarm, bringing in Engine 4 and Tank 4, as well as Engine 5 from York Beach to the scene. While responding, the crews in Kittery made an aggressive attack and knocked the fire down. Tank 4 was canceled, Engine 4 and Engine 5 were diverted to the Kittery Point Lewis Square fire station for coverage. We met up with Portsmouth Engine 1 who also was diverted to the station for coverage. Engine 5 and Portsmouth Engine 1 were released and Engine 4 remained at the Kittery Point station until 6:00 am. We certainly owed Kittery Point some station coverage after they have provided us with coverage multiple times since this past summer.
