Engine 6 responded to its first call tonight when it went mutual aid to Eliot to ARC recycling for a structure fire. This is the second fire at ARC in 15 months. Crews worked at the fire all night putting water on the smoldering piles of garbage. There are no nearby fire hydrants so a tanker shuttle was established to bring water to the scene. Engine 6 hauled approximately 25 loads at 2500 gallons each for a total of 62,500 gallons for this truck alone. There were approximately a dozen other tankers supplying the fire scene at the height of the fire. Crews were dispatched around 1900 hours and Engine 6 returned to town the next morning approximately 0900. It was a long night for all the firefighters on the scene!!
