York Village and York Beach Fire departments were dispatched to Sunnycrest Dr in the Village district for a “reported chimney fire” C-1 was on the air within a minute and Squad 1 with Captain Scott Apgar was the paid firefighter on-duty was on the air shortly thereafter. Squad 1 arrived first and reported that it appeared to have extended to the house as he had fire showing where the chimney came through the roof. C-1 arrived on scene and requested a 1st alarm “working fire” for card O-2 ( York Village non- hydrant run card) Companies found a metal chimney that had made contact with the roof sheathing and caught the building on fire. Lt. Dave Butler and FF Dave Lorandeau took the attic sector and extinguished most of the fire with an APW. 2 Lines were stretched as a precaution and overhaul took approxitmately 1 hour, minor extension down to the 2nd floor was found.
