At around 10:30 Sunday night York Village Fire received a phone call at the station from a resident of 9 River Meadow Ln. stating they had a chimney fire and it was burning in the walls behind the wood stove.  York Village Fire, York Beach Fire and York Ambulance were dispatched to the address.  Firefighter Josh Allen arrived on scene first in his POV, as he lives nearby, and reported fire showing in the living room of a single story home and that the residents have evacuated. Chief Balentine quickly requested the 1st Alarm to be transmitted.  FF Allen made quick work with a personal fire extinguisher from a safe distance to keep the fire in check before fire apparatus arrived.  Squad 2 arrived on scene within minutes and a hand-line was stretched and an interior fire attack was made.  The damage was kept to a minimum and the residents were able to stay home that night.

Station coverage was provided to York Village Station by Kittery Engine 5.  York Beach Station was covered by Ogunquit Engine 31.
