The morning of firemen’s field day got started with a bang as York Village and York Beach Fire Departments were toned out to respond to Ocean View Dr. off Bayview Avenue for a fire in the oven. Engines 4, 6, & Truck 8 were on the road in less than 2 minutes from York Village, along with Engine 1 from York Beach. C1 and C4 were on the scene quickly and reported fire under control, holding first due for ventilation, staging the second due pump and the truck on Long Sands Rd. York Beach Engine was subsequently ordered to cancel their response.
Engine 6 was first due and tied up for 45 minutes ventilating the building before turning it over to the homeowner. There was no fire extension outside the oven.
