Shortly before 2000 hours York Dispatch received a call from the homeowner at 46 Sentry Hill Rd reporting that the back of the house was on fire. While responding, C-1 advised that he had a glow in the sky. Upon arriving on scene he had heavy fire showing from the rear of the building and a first alarm working fire was struck. Crews led off Squad 2 with a 2 1/2” and an 1 3/4”. They darkened the exterior fire with the big line while the 1 3/4” was stretched in to stop the extension of the fire inside. Interior crews encountered hidden fire in construction voids requiring a lot of opening up with hand tools which took several hours. A 24’ and a 35’ ground ladder were thrown to the roof to assist the roof crews with opening up where they were.

We were assisted on the scene by York Beach and Ogunquit while Kittery Point and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard covered the Village Station.

While overhaul was progressing, it began to sleet/freezing rain, it made things extremely treacherous walking around and working on the roof. York Dispatch toned out an accident on I-95 reporting multiple cars with road conditions being extremely slippery. Shortly after that another crash on I-95 was toned out and companies had to also respond to that one which was reported as multiple vehicles with multiple injuries.

Crews cleared the fire scene at approximately 2300 hours. The fire is under investigation still.
