Shortly after 1300 hours this afternoon York Dispatch began receiving calls for a structure fire on St. Andrew’s Ln in the Scotland Bridge area of town. W-2 Lt. Nick Hilton was first on scene and reported heavy fire showing from a two story wood frame dwelling. He requested the first alarm/Working Fire assignment. Upon arrival of the companies it was determined that there were no occupants in the house and that the fire was in the advanced stages. Squad 2 crew deployed their 300′ 1 3/4″ orange line as well as the 300′ 2 1/2″ white line. A second 2 1/2″ line was stretched for back up but not charged. A second alarm was quickly sounded bringing mutual aid to the fire and to cover. Approximately 20 York Village Firefighters responded to the call. The fire was knocked down within 30 minutes with overhaul progressing for another 2 hours. There was one civilian who was injured. The subject was transported to York Hospital via York Ambulance and subsequently treated and released. The Red Cross will be assisting the homeowner.
