Over the weekend of April 30th 2010 Lieutenant Bruno and Firefighters Michael and David Lorandeau attended the annual New England FOOLS spring training. This year the training was hosted by Greenland Fire Chief, and owner of National Wrecker Service Ralph Cresta, at National Wrecker’s facilities in Portsmouth, NH. During this weekend the students participated in scenario based advanced extrication and vehicle stabilization techniques. Instructors traveled from as far away as New Jersey to instruct students from all over New England. Scenarios ranged from simple door removal and basic air bag lifts to more advanced scenarios including vehicles pinned under large commercial vehicles and multiple vehicle accidents with multiple victims. Students of all ranks took turns taking command of scenarios as well as working the various tasks involved at each ‘incident.’ The students from our department would like to thank all of the participating members who helped host, instruct, and attended this training, as it was a very informative and enjoyable weekend.
