Friends of the York Village Fire Department, please be on the look out for an N5A New Yorker leather fire helmet which disappeared from the York Village Fire Station between Tuesday night July 2 and Thursday morning July 4. These helmets are not department issued but purchased out of the pockets of the individual members at a cost of nearly $500.00 each. The firefighters helmet is one of the most visible pieces of the uniform. Each helmet is unique to its owner and each is treasured as a prized possession. Explorer Stephen “Reggie” Carr reported to the fire station for a fire call on Thursday morning only to find that his helmet was not with the rest of his gear. Here is a photo of Explorer Carr with the helmet on in an earlier training session. Please, if anybody has any leads or knows the whereabouts of the missing leather, please contact the York Village Fire Dept. at 207-363-1015 or York Police Department officer Shawn Darrow at 207-363-4444
