Firefighter Charles “Chuckie”  Balentine recieved  his 55 years of service pin at the annual York Firefighter’s ball. Charles began his fire service career with the York Village Fire Department  in 1954 on his 21st birthday.  FF Balentine attained the rank of Assistant Chief before retiring to a support role.  He is a fixture at fire department functions and fires where he can still be seen wearing “turnout gear” and “pulling hose”. He is the father of Fire Chief Chris Balentine, the grandfather of Captain Paul Balentine, and FF Zach Apgar, and Deputy Chief Dave Apgar’s father-in-law.
