This week’s training consisted of getting introduced to the newest ventilation saw, a K12 saw that will enhance our Truck Co. operations. At the beginning of training, Capt. Paul Balentine went over the in’s and out’s of the new saw to the membership. Once all questions were answered, companies crewed up on the apparatus and went to the Mill Pond on Lindsay Rd. to start the annual pump testing on Engine 4 and Engine 6. Every year we are required to pump test every piece of fire apparatus in the station. We took the opportunity to complete some drafting skills objectives that needed to be met for three drivers. The conditions at the Mill Pond were less than desirable due to a lot of vegetation and “muck”. We will continue pump testing on a different date in a better location.
