Truck 8 was dispatched to York’s Wild Kingdom to assist York Beach Fire with rescuing approximately a dozen civilians from the ferris wheel which suffered a mechanical break-down in the middle of the ride, and stranded some passengers for as long as 45 minutes. Shift Commander John Hunt was operating Truck 8’s aerial and Captain Paul Balentine, Lt. Dave Butler and York Beach FF Josh Gammon performed the rescues, which required Truck 8 to make two different “sets” to reach everybody. York Beach Fire

Chief Dave Bridges (214) was in command of the operation and as per protocol, Maine State Fire Marshal’s office is required to be notified and must respond. There were no injuries reported and Truck 8 returned to service within an hour.
