Due to shift vacancies in the paid firefighter ranks, two fill-in shifts were offered to the Volunteers at YVFD Saturday and Sunday both 24 hour shifts were filled entirely by Volunteers. Traditionally  at YVFD numerous members “hang-around”  and staff the station,   Dinner is always prepared in the firehouse by the members. Ambulance 1 crew also joined the Firefighters as it was several Village members who were staffing that rig Saturday night. Several hours of fire videos were shown on the projector in the meeting hall. Members ran a couple medicals. The 9/11/01 murders were  observed by the members of YVFD while they completed their many chores around the firehouse.

Sunday morning started off with shift change at 0800 followed by a few hours of peace and quiet in the morning. Lunch was shaved steak subs with peppers and onions, once again prepared by the crew of Squad 2.   An early afternoon brush fire was handled by Squad 2 and Brush 10, Later a furnace problem with smoke in the building,  outside smoke check, and several medicals were answered before the shift ended at 0800 Monday morning.
