A small crew took Truck 8 to Minuteman Trucks for some service work, and while there they picked up the new Squad 2 for delivery.
Captains John Hunt and Paul Balentine traveled to Appleton, Wisconsin to the Pierce factory for an inspection on the new Squad 2. John and Paul finalized the specifications on our new Pierce PUC Rescue Pumper. Many items were added or changed to maximize efficiency.
Firefighter Charles “Chuckie” Balentine recieved his 55 years of service pin at the annual York Firefighter’s ball. The Members drove the 3 American La France Fire Apparatus out for a final photo shoot. The two oldest trucks will soon be taken out of service. They are being replaced by a new Pierce Velocity 75′ Quint fire apparatus purchased with Federal Grant money.
Pierce MFG brought a demonstrator unit to the York Village Fire Station for us to view. The unit is a 2007 Pierce Velocity 75′ Quint with a 500 Gallon water tank and a 1750 GPM pump.
