York Village, York Beach, Ogunquit, and Wells Fire Departments participated in live fire training in an acquired structure overlooking Perkins Cove in Oqunquit today. Crews took turns rotating through various evolutions pertaining to structural firefighting, including: Fire Attack, Ventilation, and Search & Rescue. As fighting fires becomes a smaller part of our job due to a declining number of structural fire occurances it becomes critical to train on these topics. It can be difficult to train new firefighters, or for that matter to keep experienced firefighters’ skills sharp without training sessions like these. We wish to thank the Ogunquit Fire Department for inviting us to participate with them as it keeps the bond strong between neighboring fire departments.
